Family Picture Day

This morning was family picture day. My dad wanted a new family picture for his father's day present and we were finally able to give it to him. I will post the actual pics once I get a copy from my mom, but for  now here a few fun ones my mom took of me with my phone. It's fun pretending to be a model, HA!

 

Pizza, pizza!

A new pizza place just opened next to our apartment called Benny's. They sell by the slice and have limited toppings. However, you can get a whole pizza... 28" pizza for $28! This slice was only $5.

Girls Night!

This past weekend 2 of my girlfriends came over for a girls night. We have tried to get together whenever we can, which isn't very often, but this weekend we were able to! I had the 2 of them over dinner. I made basil pesto chicken with fresh mozzarella and tomato, roasted squash, onions, mushrooms, and friend onions with bloomin' sauce. It was delicious! Of course we had some girl drinks. We typically will eat, make drinks, and play cards. We have been playing cards together since high school. The games have surely changed since the addition of fun drinks, but all in all it's a good time. We were missing our 4th member of our group, she lives in Texas, wahh! We called her and texted her all night so it was like she was there... in spirit at least. She so graciously informed is that is was National Tequila day. By that time it was about 8:45pm. We jumped in Julia's car and booked it down to the ABC store before they closed at 9:00! After tequila shots and several card games we were getting hungry. We were not prepared for the events of the evening, I did not have any snacks... I have been a slacker and need to go grocery shopping like woah. Crystal decided she wanted to walk down to Texas Tavern and get a burger. So I walked down there with her, got our burgers and a hot dog for Julia who stayed back at my apartment. We ate, Crystal's husband came to pick her up, Julia slept on the couch and I headed to my own bed. I'd say we had a lot of fun!

Richmond

This past weekend Jay and I headed up to Richmond with 2 of our good friends, Abbey and Keith. They are both originally from Richmond and their families still live there. The reason for the trip was to celebrate Abbey's college graduation. She had been working on finishing up her Bachelors degree for a while, so we decided to go help celebrate with her since she was finally able to walk! She actually completed everything and graduated in December, but she had to wait to walk until the ceremony this weekend. I had never been to Richmond to visit, neither had Jay. We were in for a real treat, haha. We stayed at The Jefferson Hotel (loved it) with Abbey and Keith. Friday night after graduation we went to dinner at Morton's. It was delicious. We would love to go there again. Saturday morning we woke up and had brunch at The Jefferson with some of their family. For the afternoon we went shopping at Short Pump. I actually did not buy anything! I was shocked, ha. Then we went to Keith's parents house a swam and had homemade pizza for dinner. Jay and I had planned on coming back home Saturday afternoon... we didn't leave until 9:45pm! Needless to say I slept some of the way home. We made it back around 1:00am. We had a good trip, quick but fun. I was great being there for Abbey and celebrating with her.

50 Shades of Grey

My roommate is in a book club. I was "kicked out" because I never read any of the books and only went to 2 get-togethers. However... 50 Shades of Grey has gotten me back in! I could not put this book down. I was hooked and had to know what happened. I've already bought the 2nd and 3rd books, 50 Shades Darker and 50 Shades Freed. These books are kind of raunchy, but I can't stop reading them.

Friday night for the book club meeting, my roommate Kate and I were the hosts. We thought long and hard about a theme and wanted to make it fun. We decided on a menu and bought everything we needed. Kate ended up having to work late so I got to cooking, which is fun for me so I didn't mind. The girls came over and we started drinking wine, all appropriately named to go along with the "sexy" theme. So was the food. We had wieners in a blanket, meatballs, cucumber finger sandwiches, crab dip, bacon wrapped asparagus, and chocolate dipped strawberries. For dessert we had slutty brownies. The evening turned into a really good girls night! Laters, baby.  ;)

Memorial Day

I had to work on Memorial Day, which was normal for me. I'd rather work and save it to use on another day. I had planned on only working 4 hours like usual for a holiday but it ended up being about 5 1/2. Whatever. After I left work I met up with Jay and we went down to the river. Our friends Crystal and Ryan came too and brought Crystal's little brother. It was so nice to be outside and relax for a while.

Festival in the Park

Jay and I went to Festival in the Park again this year. He was on night shift that weekend, but luckily he was able to take off Sunday night so we go. Sunday night was Craig Morgan and Hunter Hayes. It was so crowded. More crowded that last year for sure. It was super hot so we tried to get there early and find a seat in the shade. We put our blanket down and got comfortable under a shade tree. I of course wanted food so I got a corndog! We had a really good night and a lot of fun.
